What are event types?

Event types are used to specify the different activity or appointment types you might have. You can create as many event types as you like. Use different event types for different names, appointment lengths and other variations you might need.

When a visitor goes to your booking page, they'll see a list of all of your event types, so they can choose which event best fits their need. You can also easily link to a specific event type if you wish to do so.

To add an event type, navigate to "Event types" and click to add a new event type.

Set your event type name, description and duration. If you need to set some advanced options, such as minimum scheduling notice, or before and after buffer times, you can specify them here. These options can always be changed later.

Event type options

The name and description you specify will be displayed on your booking page, so make sure the description appeals to you and any potential visitors you have. The description supports basic text formatting options, such as bold, italics and lists.

Set your event type duration, and Kwikcal will make sure that only time slots that fit that duration will be displayed on your booking page. If you need to specify some before and after buffer times, so that you can prepare for a meeting, or take notes after a meeting has ended, set that time here. Kwikcal will make sure that those times will be considered when displaying your availability, to prevent any back-to-back meetings.

Event type questions

When somebody is booking an appointment, it can be very helpful to have them fill out a minimum set of questions, so you can be fully prepared for your meeting. Kwikcal can help with them, by allowing you to specify the type of questions that must be answered.

Once an event type is created, click to edit it and view the "Questions" tab. By default, name and email are required questions and cannot be changed or removed.

Add as many questions as you want, and they'll be displayed on your booking confirmation form. You can mark a questions as required or optional, as well as specifying the format of the answer. Available options are a single input line, a multiple line field for long form questions and a phone number field.

Add optional or required questions to be filled out on your booking confirmation form.

Any question you specify will be displayed on the booking confirmation form, allowing you to get all the information you need before the meeting starts.

Notifications

Each event type can set notification options, for things such as calendar invites, email reminders and text message reminders (for Paid subscriptions). Set these to customize what the calendar invite text will include. Notifications will be sent to the invitee if enabled.

Customize event type notifications.

Each notification type can set both the message content as well as subject line, when applicable. To customize the message sent, use text macros to include certain text snippets, such as {{time}} and {{date}}. A full list of text macros is available at the bottom of this article.

Some notification types allow for specifying how soon before an event type are sent, such as being sent 1 day or 1 hour before the event takes place. Email and text message reminders can be very helpful to ensure that both parties show up.
